African Climate & Development Initiative (ACDI) Masters graduate | UCT
Nicholas van Doesburgh is a recent University of Cape Town Master’s graduate, having completed an MPhil in Climate Change and Development through the African Climate & Development Initiative (ACDI) earlier this year. Under the supervision of Prof Harald Winkler and Dr Andrew Marquard, his Master’s thesis examined the historical political economy
dynamics underpinning South Africa’s high-emissions low-employment development pathway, with a focus on the role of industrial policy. His research interests centre on the interplay between economic development and climate mitigation in developing countries, with a specific interest in political economy, just transitions, energy security and green industrial policy.
