Jason F. Bell is an Economist and Researcher at the Centre for Competition Regulation and Economic Development. He is interested in political economy and industrial development issues, focusing on the role of regulation, governments and institutions in fostering growth and the evolution and distribution of power within global value chains. He was part of the Industrial
Development Think Tank, where his sectoral focus covered metals, machinery and equipment, development finance institutions, automotives, climate change and green hydrogen in South Africa. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economic Science, Corporate Finance and Investment from the University of the Witwatersrand, and a Bachelor of Economic Sciences (Honours) (Cum Laude) and a Master of Commerce in Economics from the same institution. He is pursuing a PhD in industrial development, looking into the spatial and industrial nexus relating to township economies
