Seutame Maimele is a Sustainable Growth Economist and a research lead on climate change and trade at TIPS. He has experience in global climate change policies and trade, designing climate-compatible value chains for carbon-intensive industries for South Africa and Africa. He has also worked extensively on just transition in South Africa. Recently, he has been working on understanding the implications of the European Green Deal, including its subsidiary the European Union’s Carbon Boarder Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), as well as the Inflation Reduction Act of the United States and how it impacts African trade, including South Africa.
