Nicholas Mudungwe is the Executive Director of the Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute. Since 2023, he has led the organisation’s continental work to strengthen industrial competitiveness, intra-African trade, investment and value addition in Africa’s leather sector. He has more than 30 years of leadership in industrialisation, regional economic integration, trade development and value chain transformation, with practical experience across more than 25 countries in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific, and direct support for leather-sector initiatives in more than 15 African countries. He has worked in partnership with governments, regional economic communities, development agencies and the private sector, including the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, the Southern African Development Community, European Union, USAID, International Trade Centre, Food and Agricultural Organization, the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat,  United Nations Industrial Development Organization, African Development Bank, Afreximbank, UN Economic Commission for Africa, and the AfCFTA Secretariat. He holds an MSc in Project Management from Walden University, an MBA from Zimbabwe Open University, and a BSc Honours in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe.
