Piera Wanjiku Wanjau is a Board Member and the Director of Youth Engagement and Impact at the Global Intergenerational Climate Resilience Initiative, and a Solutions and Knowledge Products Mapper (Africa) with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation .She also serves on multiple youth advisory platforms. Her works focuses on environmental policy, sustainable development, and economic systems, with a focus on how global decisions can result in real outcomes for communities in the Global South. In her current role with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation, she has mapped and documented over 100 solutions from across Africa, helping elevate practical approaches in climate resilience, agriculture, and community-led development. She is an active member of the Women’s Major Group to United National Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Children and Youth Major Group to UNEP, where she contributes to strengthening inclusive and science-based environmental decision-making. Her work is grounded in the belief that policy must connect back to people, and that young people and communities are not just participants, but drivers of change. Her leadership focuses on building practical pathways between global processes and community realities, supporting more inclusive, resilient, and equitable approaches to environmental action.
