Chere Monaisa is a researcher in the Just Transition Labour Centre (TIPS) where he is responsible for compiling the Just Transition Quarterly Tracker and conducting a study into the role of municipal trade unions in mitigation and adaptation to climate change in South Africa. He has over 17 years of experience as a labour market, macro- and socio-economic researcher and policy analyst, primarily within civil society and with experience in the public sector. His background includes managing and delivering research projects in South Africa and internationally, with a focus on labour, trade, skills development, and social protection. His experience spans all provinces in South Africa, where he has led data collection efforts and engaged diverse stakeholders in policy-focused dialogues. Internationally, he has participated in study tours, fact-finding missions, and conferences. His current interests as a researcher and educator focus on inequality and the just transition, driven by a commitment to exploring practical strategies to achieve these outcomes.
