Stephen Onyeiwu is a professor and holder of the Andrew Wells Robertson Endowed Chair in Economics at Allegheny College, Meadville, Pennsylvania. He is a development economist that focuses mainly on African development and economics of the Middle East and North Africa. He has served as a consultant to international organisations such as the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Addis Ababa, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Geneva, and the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa, Senegal. He has published two books and several scholarly articles in academic journals and edited books. Professor Onyeiwu is a regular contributor to the popular media. His work has appeared on CNN, US News and World Report, Business Insider, CNBC Africa, and The Conversation. Professor Onyeiwu received his PhD in Economics from the University of Connecticut, United States and was a British Airways pre-doctoral fellow at Sussex University, United Kingdom. He has taught at universities in Africa, Asia and North America, including the University of Port Harcourt, Covenant University, University of Connecticut, Wesleyan University, Trinity College, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Union College, State University of New York at Albany, and O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonepat, India.
