Glen Robbins is a Visiting Researcher at the Southern Centre for Inequality Studies (University of Witwatersrand) and a Research Associate at the PRISM research centre (University of Cape Town). His work spans both urban and economic development issues. Recent research and policy advice has included projects on value chains in the wind energy and green hydrogen sectors, as well as on impacts of increased renewable energy demand and supply on larger municipal electricity utilities. His research focuses on urban and regional economic development and on evolutions of industrial policy in the context of climate change. He has published articles in academic journals and chapters in a variety of books on matters of economic development, industrial policy and urban development. He has worked in government, across different spheres, and was previously an advisor on multi-lateral programmes in several countries. He holds a Bachelor of Social Science honours degree from the University of Natal and an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Sussex.
