Gillian is a Senior Economist at Trade & Industrial Policy Strategies (TIPS), She has over a decade of experience as an economic researcher, policy advisor, and strategy analyst specialising in inclusive industrial development and optimising regional trade value chains. Her work primarily targets government departments, regional institutions, and international development organisations. Her recent portfolio includes research and policy work supporting the South African Medical Devices Masterplan, the South Africa Sugar Value Chain Master Plan, the Water and Sanitation Industrialisation Masterplan, the Poultry Sector Master Plan, and the Plastics Industry Master Plan. She also has experience in sector and industry value chain analysis across agriculture, manufacturing, and services. Gillian holds a Master of Commerce in Development Theory and Policy, an Honours degree in Commerce, an Honours degree in International Relations, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Anthropology from the University of the Witwatersrand.
