Elvis Korku Avenyo is an Associate Professor of Development Economics at the DSI/NRF South African Research Chair in Industrial Development (SARChI-Industrial Development), at the University of Johannesburg. He researches broadly on development economics with interests in sustainable industrial development, technologies, innovation, critical minerals and green transition, global value chain, and firm behaviour, with a specific focus on developing countries. He has published in various academic journals and worked and co-authored background papers forseveral international organisations, including the International Labour Organization, World Bank, African Centre for Economic Transformation, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization , United Nations Industrial Development Organization, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and United Nations Trade and Development. Elvis has a PhD in Economics of Innovation, Policy Studies of Technical Change and Governance from Maastricht University/UNU-MERIT, The Netherlands.
