Rasmus Lema is Professor in the School of Economics at the University of Johannesburg, Professorial Fellow at UNU-MERIT, and currently leads the DSI/NRF South African Research Chair in Industrial Development. His research focuses on industrial policy, innovation, global value chains, and green and digital transformation, with particular emphasis on technological capability building and sustainable industrialisation in the Global South. He has led international research and policy projects across Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America and is Editor-in-Chief of Innovation and Development
