CIB Public Sector and Growth Capital Solutions and CIB ARO Lead, ABSA

Stephen Seaka is the Managing Executive of Absa CIB Public Sector and Growth Capital Solutions businesses, and also the CIB Absa Regional Offices (ARO) Lead. Stephen’s experience spans 20 years in investment banking, having held several senior management positions, previously with primary focus as Head of Public Sector and Head of Inclusive Growth Solutions at Absa Group. He has oversight of the CIB business in the group’s ARO in Sub-Saharan Africa. Stephen previously held various roles at Standard Bank notably in treasury, global markets including heading up the Energy, Power & Infrastructure and the Emerging Business & Strategic Investment Sector teams. Stephen also was at AngloGold Ashanti, where he managed the global hedge book. He holds a BSc Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Witwatersrand, a BCom degree from Unisa, and has completed his CFA Level II exams. Transformation and inclusivity remain high on his agenda evidenced by time served as Deputy President and Secretary General of The Association of Black Securities Investment Professionals including leading the Employment Equity Forum within Absa CIB. His mission remains sustainable development across Sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on infrastructure finance, fiscal stability advice and enterprise development.
