Clayton Hazvinei Vhumbunu holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), South Africa. He specialises in research and publications on international relations, regional integration, peace and security, and China-Africa relations. He previously held academic and non-academic appointments at the University of Namibia, National Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences, Rhodes University, and UKZN. Dr Vhumbunu has also been a Research Fellow at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in the Regional Integration Division in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and has been an Asia Global Institute Research Fellow at the University of Hong Kong in Victoria City, Hong Kong since 2020. He co-published a book in April 2024 titled Engagement of Africa in Conflict Dynamics and Peace Architectures(Springer Publishers), and has also presented research papers at several international conferences, including in South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, Zambia, Eswatini, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Namibia, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Egypt, Senegal, Djibouti, China and Hong Kong. Currently, Dr Vhumbunu is working on a book (co-edited) titled Reflections and Perspectives on Regional Integration Dynamics in Africa, which will be published by Springer Publishers by December 2025.
